Goodbye! May 4, 2012

Filed under: end of blog — zevmoore @ 11:52 am

I have decided, over a long period of time, to end my blog. It will still be up if anyone wants to look back on it ever, but I will stop writing on it. I will not be quitting writing, or blogging, but I will no longer be writing on this blog. I will be starting a new blog.

Unfortunately, I will not be revealing my new blog’s address or name. However, I will return here to manage any comments, see who stops by……..

Okay, so why am I leaving my blog? I saw very clearly how many people read my blog, and it’s not enough. I have a very busy life, and I will not devote my time for something that just is not worth it. I also can’t stand all the fighting with my brother, as I am a parasite on his blog. I would be very glad to leave that all behind. I hate having to be under Zev’s profile, and not having my own picture. It may sound trivial, but that’s actually really important.

I’m sorry.

Great news! April 19, 2012

Filed under: post of the day, special stuff — zevmoore @ 12:31 am

So, I posted on January 10 that I got into the Yaldah editorial board- as a photographer. I applied as a writer, so that was the slight disappointment accompanying my joy. Now, I get a second chance to do both. The magazine has an important announcement-http://yaldah.com/fun-for-girls/yaldah-is-going-monthly/-so now they need to hire more girls to relieve the burden on the other girls on the board. This was my chance! (okay, I really can’t claim credit. Ima’s idea.) I emailed Leah Caras, founder of the magazine, and asked her if I could continue with my photography 4 issues a year, but work as a writer for some of the other issues! I got an email back today, and what do you think she answered?

YES! she said: “ I think it should be fine – what we would do is if we ever need another writer, or a backup writer when a piece falls through, we could assign it to you.”

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hawaiian Beach Party! April 17, 2012

Today was boiling. Absolutely roasting. It felt like summer, only we were stuck at school. :(   We all needed a way to cool off. So, we went to Hawaii. Me, Shira, Noam, and Yechiel decided to create a Hawaii beach right in our back yard. Our parents agreed, and we turned on the hose and let the water flow! We played water-hose limbo, sprayed water all over the backyard and everything in it, put towels on the trampoline for a beach, dragged the slide and made it into a water slide, played water volleyball with a yoga ball with the hose as a net, and had a hula (hoop) contest. We then went to the “beach” for some tanning. We ended up having a towel fight and played musical towels, and didn’t get much tanning. We then had a “Hawaiian Homework club”, where the kids with homework got to do it on the trampoline, avoiding violent volcanic eruptions. (also known as Michal and Yechiel jumping!)  We ended the day very much cooled off, and enjoyed a taco dinner. The others wanted to return, but I think I was suffering from jet lag :)

Back Again! February 12, 2012

Filed under: everyday, interesting things that happen to me — zevmoore @ 2:20 pm

I’m back! I haven’t posted in sooooooo long! I just want to apologize to all those who check in every day (or almost every day) and there’s nothing new. I know how it feels, and it’s annoying.

So, I just started gymnastics  on Thursday. I was so out of shape! My muscles are still screaming at me!

What else is new? 1-I am (trying to, at least) waiting patiently for my assignment for Yaldah, which they said would come last week-annoying!

2-All my attempts to work on my Torah Fair project fail or get obliterated, destroyed, ruined or in someway get reduced to nothing-also annoying, especially since time is running out, and I have no interest in starting from scratch.

3-The craziest schedule-Sundays, working at the Konteroviches. Mondays, math club and babysitting. Tuesdays, Batya. Wednesday, scrapbooking club. Thursday, gymnastics. Fun, but hectic!

4-Struggle to keep control over iPod. Endless battle, lost once. CAN’T LET IT TAKE OVER! Thanks to Ima and Abba for helping me keep it in line.

5-Got the day off yesterday. Stayed on the couch practically ALL DAY! Went through a stack of literally 20 or so books, didn’t go to shul, just stayed home and relaxed. Very fun.

6-Saba and Safta are coming tonight! Can’t wait!

7- I’m finally blogging!

I finally finished my speech. I feel like 700 pounds were just lifted off my shoulders. It is such a relief to finally finish it! Now I can finally get excited (and nervous) but at least I’m ready (or more ready, anyway :) )

I got in! January 10, 2012

as I posted on December 19, I have been quite excited to have the chance to be part of Yaldah’s editorial board. Well, now I can say my dreams have now become reality! (well, close) I am now one of the three photographers for Yaldah magazine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got the phone call last night, and when I heard I was in, I was so shocked I could barely manage to say thank you.I just got an email with more details and my new, official Yaldah email address. The magazine is distributed four times a year, so I will be getting an assignment about four times, possibly more. I didn’t get my first choice, writer, and in the application I almost didn’t fill out photographer!

But in the end I did, and thank goodness! It’s amazing that I got in, because most of the people chosen to be on the editorial board have done it before, so Ima calls it “a step in the door” and now my chances of being a writer next year are greatly magnified. I’m really excited to do photography for Yaldah. Photography is fun, and a lot easier. I am now Michal Moore, photographer, michalm.eb@yaldahmagazine.com, not Michal Moore, writer. And that’s not a bad thing. However, one thing’s for sure-now I need a digital camera!:)
